WELCOME to
Colorful Colorado!
We are so excited to welcome you to the state we call home. Loren was raised in Denver, and Boulder is where we met. The couple now lives an hour south of Denver in Colorado Springs.
For our out-of-state guests, THANK YOU for making the trip to be with us. The best airport to fly into is Denver International Airport and Boulder is about a 50-minute drive.
You can either rent a car and drive to Boulder or take the RTD Bus Route AB1 (the schedule linked).
Below you will find our hotel, restaurant, and activities recommendations.
Lodging Recommendations
Moxy Hotel
A Marriott brand known for its stylish, affordable, and space-efficient rooms and lobbies that function as bars, cafes, and coworking spaces. Located in the University Hill neighborhood and close to CU.
Hotel Boulderado
This is our favorite place to stay in Boulder! We celebrated Loren’s first year in remission there. The hotel is classic, elegant and located one block form historic Pearl St.
St. Julien
Considered Boulder’s premier hotel! Every room boasts breathtaking views of the flatirons or Pearl St. Be sure to indulge in a spa service or an afternoon dip in the stunning outdoor pool.
Places to PLAY
Chautauqua Park
The area at the foot of the Flatirons. The most iconic sight and hike in Boulder. There are trails for all levels. Stop for a bite to eat at the Chautauqua Dining Hall. The nearby General Store has some delicious ice cream to enjoy.
Pearl Street Mall
An outdoor pedestrian mall filled with street performers, yummy restaurants, and delightful clothing shops. Some of our favorite places on the mall are Lindsay’s Deli, The Weekend (Clothing), Canoe Club (Men’s Clothing), The Rio (Mexican), and Spruce Confections (Bakery). On Saturdays from 8 am-2 pm there is a Farmer’s market on 13th St.
Estes Park
Estes Park is 30 minutes from Boulder. It is the town at the base of Rocky Mountain National Park. Take a day trip go on a hike and step back in time wandering the streets of downtown Estes Park. The Stanley Hotel, the site of The Shining movie, is located in here. Some of the hikes we love in this area are: Bear Lake, Gem Lake, and Sky Pond.
Places to EAT
The Sink ($)
This was the first place the couple went together during their freshmen year of college with Derek’s parents. It is a dive bar with writing on the wall and greasy burgers. You know it is good when Obama chooses to dine there when visiting.
SALT ($$)
This restaurant has great cocktails and New Age American food. It is right on a busy corner of Pearl St. Mall.
Bramble & Hare ($$$)
We celebrated Loren’s first year in remission at this restaurant and had one of the best meals and bottles of wine of our lives. All of the produce is sourced from a local farm: Black Cat.
